    Hi all,

just wondering do any of you use sites/apps to download legally other than the service provided by itunes?

i've searched around online and found what i think could be dubious russian sites.

    any suggestions?

    Thanks.

From my experience, the websites (many of them being Russian) that are offering MP3's at vastly discounted prices are usually doing something illegal. A good example of this was a website called allofmp3 who were selling MP3's for little or nothing. Search for them in Google and you will find many results relating to their suspected illegal activity and subsequent closure. The Wikipedia article about them is interesting too...

A good rule of thumb is that if a website is selling music for way less than the likes of iTunes then it's probably doing so illegally. The Russians in particular have a bad track record in this area...

Eircom music club is OK, Nokia have a similar service but my knowledge doesn't go much further than that as iTunes tends to have all I ever need... If you ar etrying to find a cheaper, legal, comparable alternative to iTunes then I think it will be difficult, but my knowledge is limited so maybe others can offer further suggestions...

Was just gonna mention allofmp3 but remembered it got closed for some illegal stuff. I know off no other reliable sites bar Itunes. Is this just out of curiosity? Cause Itunes are reasonable enough for music arent they? Price wise

7Digital.ie seems to be respectable. I,ve downloaded a David Gray album from them before and there was nothing wrong with it. No DRM or anything like that.

I'd highly recommend War Child Music, which is ran by 7Digitial that Gorilla mentioned above.
The difference is that the profits go to the War Child charity, it's a fantastic idea. Have a look at it anyway - www.warchildmusic.org and here's the direct link into the "download store" - http://www.7digital.com/stores/default.aspx?shop=15 .

They also have "exclusive tracks" donated by bands like Radiohead and Oasis.

There is a huge selection, really impressive.
