    Backsack or shoulder?

I like both my Mini Trekker Classic, and Vertex 200. Tried out one of the Slingshots for a while, but didn't like it.

The Lowepro Computrekkor AW Plus is pretty popular around here. I can fit 2 bodies and all the lenses you list above + some more in, and up to a 17in laptop. It's comfortable enough - I've done a fair share of travelling, hiking and general mucking about with mine.

The Lowepro Mini Trekker AW is also a good size bag for putting over your back. It's also quite popular here. It's a bit smaller than al's but then again I don't want to be lugging a laptop around on my back - I've got a car for that.

Not if you spend 3k on a camera. I'd be buying the best bag i could get to carry that thing around.

Well I really find LowePro to be great bags, and you should not skimp on buying a good bag.

Here is a results page for Minitrekker search on E-bay. Only came back with options from Hong Kong but seem pretty good value to me.

    Hope this helps.

I got my non-AW Mini Trekker from Hall Cameras for about €75 a year or two ago.

Any bags I've bought since, I've got from Camera King.

    I see it's about €50 on ebay ??? is there a catch ?

seems too good to be true

I would say a mini trekker could be a bit tight for that gear and that you would be better off going for the next size up, possibly the nature trekker
    http://products.lowepro.com/product/Nature-Trekker-AW-II,1971,14.htm
Try looking in shops to get a feel for the size first before committing to purchase.
I have the mini trekker and I find it a great bag, small enough for a lot of work but too small if I want to take any quantity of stuff on a hike, ie, D300, 17-55 f2.8, 80-200 f2.8 VR, 12-24 f4 and a few other bits and pieces. Remember that the mini trekker bag is only 12.5cm deep internally which makes it tight for a lot of the faster lenses, the nature trekker is a more reasonable 15 and a small increase in width and height. The photo trekker takes a more noticeable jump in size and could be too bulky. This would defeat the purpose because if it starts getting too big you'll just leave it at home,
Another make worth looking at is the Tamrac range. I'm not familiar with specific models but a colleague of mine has one and is very happy with it. He was particularly impressed with the extra pockets and pouches it had for storing spare batteries, filters and odd bits and pieces.

I'm curious, with these sort of bags what happens when you dont have something filling the centre column? Do the side panels sag under the weight of the lens? Is the velcro strong enough to hold together or is there a risk to the lens? I know the inside would be padded anyway but still I'd prefer they not be bouncing off each other.

OP the Tamrac Adventure and Expedition series could be worth a look.

    a bag?
    surely you mean bags!!! :)
lots of people end up with more than one. i've go a LowePro Slingshot 200 AW - perfect for one mid range D SLR and a medium size lens maybe a smaller lens too and a flash unit and a few small things like filters etc. but if you've more gear than that this type of bag will be bursting at the seams, I supose the 300 AW is a bit better space wise.
What i have to carry most of my equipment is a LowePro Stealth 500 AW and even that is under pressure i usually bring two bags, sometimes three to a shoot, the last one i got which is great for travel (carries laptop and all) is a ThinkTank Urban Disguise 60 - it's within the criteria for carry on baggage for all airlines will take two D SLRs one with a 70 - 200 lens attached.
So what you need to do really is estimate what you need to carry now, multiply by 2 and you'll have the bag you'll need for the gear you might have by next year!
    :)

Definitely bags as opposed to bag

Most of my stuff sleeps in a computrekker (best bag ever) but it day trips in a crumpler. Rarely (less since I've gained more of an appreciation of what lens I'll need for a specific job) have I brought the whole computrekker with me. Usually sits in the car. Very handy for weight training though and you can get a feckin load of gear into them.

Don't want to start yet another thread for bags so I'll use this one:p

Anyone have any experience of the Tamrac Adventure 9? Link

This seems to have a stuff pocket, for my purse, jacket etc. Is there any other bags like this? TIA

I'd say go for a KAta R-102 or R-103 if you want laptop storage. I've seen these in the flesh and my brother is hopefully getting one for my birthday.

You should browse through CamBags.com to get some ideas.

Thanks v. much for the link. Through that site I decided on either the Lowepro Flipside 300 or the Fastpack 250. Going to try them out before purchase.

Anybody got a http://www.rotation360.com/ , I too am looking for a new bag having outgrown my current. I really like the idea of having the camera in the bag easily available, rather than bouncing around my neck.
