Far Cry 2 for PS3 €31.99 on CDWOW.IE

As the title states, this new release and much hyped game is priced at €31.99 on CDWOW. Now normally I'd jump at this but I have my concerns about that company as they have messed me around in the past but if you're brave enough, that price is almost half what everyone else is charging for that game. Unless its a mistake on their website and they up the price when you go to pay.

I'd recommend staying well away from cdwow.
They have the wrong release date as usual (which they will refuse to correct), and they won't ship it for a week at least after their wrong release date comes around.
Between 2 of us in work, we've pre-ordered ~5 games off them this year.
All of which we had to eventually cancel, as they hadn't arrived, sometimes months afterwards.

Looks like a mistake, they have the 360 version for twice that.

Might be worth a punt though, worst that'll happen is you'll get a refund.

Yeah, only got my money back from them for a dvd boxset that I ordered in June.. Took about 5 emails though - won't be buying from them again!

Against my own better judgement (I hate cdwow as they are at best incompetent), I ordered this at €30.99 and it appears to have gone through. I'll wait until its in my hands before I believe it though. At that price, it HAS to be a mistake.

As for previous experience with this shower, I've ordered DVDs that were listed as "pending dispatch" for 2 weeks until I got fed up and cancelled. Play.com has its faults but its a damn sight more professional than cd-not so-wow.

CD WOW charge you automaticly for an item, unlike play.com and most others who stipulate a contract isn't made until the item has been sent out, and only then do they charge you.

In this case, CD WOW would legally have to honour any orders since they have formed a contract with the customer on ordering. Maybe they will try to refund if it is a typo, but that would be illegal and you are within your rights to force them to honour the advertised price.

The law is that once you have paid and the seller has accepted payment that price is the legal price, even if it is a misprint.

About €42 including delivery on VG+ - should have it by Wednesday if you order from them.
Don't bother with cdwow for something like this, you'll just end up kicking yourself when it hasn't arrived a month later.

They took payment from me before, then cancelled the order saying the item is out of stock, refunded the money and increased the price on the website, still in stock. Gangsters.

The games on that videogames plus website would be ntsc though.

Thats actually something I always wondered about.

Do ntsc games play ok on a tv that supports pal60 or does the tv have to be ntsc compatible for them to show up ok?

Fairly sure that I've played US games on my old CRT tv at 576i/50hz
Can't even see an option to select 720p/1080i/1080p at 50hz on my PS3, it just defaults to 60hz, so can't really see any issues there...
In this day and age a tv that doesn't support 60hz must be a rarity anyway!

Most of my PS3 games are NTSC ones from VG+ and movietyme, haven't had any issues myself and don't know of anyone who has either...

Normally they are ok, but GTA4 didn't play in standard definition on a console from a different region so it is a possibility it wont work

Who delivers for VG+ in Ireland is it the postman or DHL? Also whats the deal playing online with imported games say for the Xbox 360? Can you play with your friends who have the european versions?

Its the postman who'll deliver for VG+. They are very quick, though. Many 360 games are region locked so be sure to check that it'll play before you order a 360 game from VG+. Dont really know whats the ska with online but i assume there would be no difference. I have bought ps3 games from VG+ in the past and theres no worries.All ps3 games are region free

CDWOW shipped (last week but hasn't arrived yet) Far Cry 2 for me at the price of €30.99 even though they had since put the price up to €61.99.

Problem is, I've since got Far Cry 2 as a pressie and after playing it, I have found out that its not to my taste. Too much like GTA IV in the jungle and nothing like the first Far Cry that I loved so dearly (sheds tear at the memory). So if anyone is interested in picking up a new, still in the packaging copy of Far Cry 2 for say €40 (its still less than what everyone else is selling it for - though I'm open to offers), then pm me. I work in Dublin City centre so could meet up.
