    Rock the Cause
Rock the Cause’ benefit gig in aid of Debra Ireland

DEBRA Ireland is a national charity set up in 1988 to raise awareness of and offer support to patients and families affected by the rare genetic skin condition, Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). This is a very distressing and painful disorder which causes the skin layers and internal body linings to separate and blister at the slightest touch. It is progressive and unrelenting in the pain and distress it causes on a daily basis. This life-long condition also often leads to cancer in early adulthood. It is a dreadful condition, as there is no effective treatment and there is no cure…yet

Three fantastic acts are going to showcase their talents in Kobra Bar Leeson Street on the 6th November in aid of Debra Ireland.(Admission €10) The three great acts will be gracing Dublin with their electric sounds for the worthwhile cause!!

    Pingpong

PingPong are David Garvan, Paul O'Connell & Aine Corcoran. The lads met in 2002 through an ad David put outside a well known music shop in Dublin. David was training on classical guitar, while Paul was dj'ing in clubs around town & on pirate radio playing techno. They hooked up after sounds were exchanged, and the proverbial bedroom studio was set up. Two years later, in 2004, the pair sought a vocal. Aine Corcoran, who was studying at the Bel Canto School of Music was introduced through a friend of a friend. Between Dave's melodic and Paul's rhythmic backgounds, the pair came up with the tunes to compliment Aine's soft vocal. The result is PingPong. Influenced heavily by a combination of Kraftwerk, Boards of Canada, Roisin Murphy, New Order, tea, biscuits & chat.

    Barry Hawk

Hailing from Cork but after stints in Barcelona, Denmark and New York 21c troubadour Barry Hawk has arrived in Dublin. Combining traditional song craft with present day sounds Hawk has come up with a body of work that's refreshing yet classic. Citing influences ranging from Crosby Stills and Nash to The Roots Hawk's eclecticism has bred an original body of work that is fresh and readily accessible to the download generation.

    The Chaos Emerald

The Chaos Emerald is a three piece group from Dublin, Ireland, and have been together for just under two years. In that time they have toured throughout Ireland and the UK, opening for such acts as Glyder; Leann Harte; Rob Strong; Pat McManus; Tizz Lizzy and Ham Sandwich among others. They released their debut EP To Live or To Die in September 2007, and it was featured on 2fm's Gerry Ryan show, and was also Demo of the Week on Phantom FM.
