I was thinking of doing maybe a 3-5 day course.

I was looking at the one in Mount Julliet http://www.mountjuliet.ie/golf/tuition.html they have a few packages.

Has anyone ever been to one? Worth it?

Its worth trying out the tuition pro first.
I was with one near Galway 2 years ago (not going to name the course) and we just didn't get on and it was just not enjoyable.

I have been with Sean in Mount Juliet and it is a great help. Basically my slice was killing me - I was thinking of packing the game in but I get it sorted and can now enjoy a game.

They have good packages there but probably the best value is the one from their special offer package - 18 Holes of Golf, Lunch and Tuition for €120 but this is only available to purchase until 31st October. I got one for myself and also bought one for a Christmas Gift (as they are valid until next March).

Also worth signing up to the newsletter as this is where I got word of this offer.

Best of luck with the tuition - what area do you need to improve .
Let me know if you head down to MJ - great course

I did the full day clinic in GUI Headquarters in Carton House must say very enjoyable day was had. Golf pro that took the day was David Mortimer nice guy from Connemara but was very competent in regards of tuition. It was a group lesson for 5 people only but one on one basis for the morning to check out your mid to long game first.

Lunch around 1pm then after lunch tuition in the group on your short game, putting, course management

All in for €200, great value in IMO

I'm off 21 and yes there were players there playin off 5, 7, 1 and 10 but I didnt feel outta place as they made me feel welcome anyway. My h/cap had no relevance at all, great bunch of guys they were.

I was thinking of doing a few days at a clinic as well but went for the 1 day gui course at Carton house instead, there in late September. I thought it was v good. Learned loads. Only 4 of us on the day, pro was v good (Tristan Mulally I think his name was)

Only downside was one of the staff got a bit out of order with us after the lesson - but apart from that it was well worth the dosh (190)

Same here, did the Carton Clinic with Tristan Mullally which was excellent and totally worthwhile.

I've always looked at those week long courses and assumed they were for young serious players looking to move into more serious golf?

Dave Pelz school in Killeen castle also has 2-3 day clinics at the bargain basement price of €2,200.... Buy me one while you are there...

This looks a real bargain; The pro in MJ is exellent, I got a present of 3 lessons earlier this year and they helped me loads......

I think my short game really needs working on. Just got a new set of irons so going to see how I get on with them for my longer game. Don't think my driving could be any better :)

I see they do a short game clinic in Mount Julliet, might give them a buzz and find out more.

I went to one with the assistant from navan golf club, jamie mcconnell. we had a great day and was very cheap, we went from 9 to 3 with lunch included for only 60euro. im playing off 15 and ive been to several other clinics but this one was very different, he did some basic things with us such as set up, but then gave us some challenges and ways of practicing. the putting was great fun, 9 holes on the green with 9 different challenges, eg whippy putter (which was weird) balance cushons, putting between tees etc, highly reccomended!!

Sure, just stick your phone number down while you're at it, Jamie.
