    Hey there, serious technophobe here

I'm just after buying an itouch and had aboout 1500 hundred songs on it.

I'm just after doing a system restore on my laptop, so Itunes has been deleted. Is there any way I can hook my ipod up to my new version of itunes, without loosing the tunes I've previously downloaded.

    Cheers

I've not had to do it on an itouch but have done it a few times on
the regular ipods, try the following

do a search for a tool called idump, that will let you select the stuff to copy off, or else
there's the hairy arsed dos box,
open a cmd prompt to the root of the music folder on the ipod
    attrrib -r -a -s -h /s *.* to unhide the tracks
xcopy /s *.* to copy them to a local hd folder (you will need lots of space)
and then just use itunes to copy the music back to your local music folder and to untangle
    the filenames

or you might be able to copy the files off using windows explorer and viewing hidden files
