Is it possible to buy these second hand including the iLok licence? If so where would be the best places to get them. I am looking for some decent reverbs in particular that are compatible with the Digidesign Venue/Profile.

it depends on developer to developer. some allow the transfer of licence for free, some charge and some dont allow it at all.

you'd need your own ilok registered in your own name.

try the for sale section at KVR, theres always software for sale there.

Cheers. I have an iLok registered in a way to me. I would be getting them on behalf of The Button Factory for use IN The Button Factory.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have tried there but unless I am using the wrong search terms (highly possible as I am new to the whole plugin thing) I could only find rather expensive new ones for sale.

if they're for the button factory i doubt they want cheap ones

arent they using a digi "venue" now?

have a look for McDsp, they're very stable and sound stunning - they're also not as extravagantly priced as waves etc.

for reverb i'd suggest the IK Multimedia CSR bundle (4 differant reverb types - room, hall, plate & inverse) or for a few more quid - Audioease Altiverb

We have the Digi Profile, yes. Venue was too big for our needs. To be honest I find the Profile to be much better laid out anyway.

Sure what would the bosses want to be spending money on plug-ins for? This is mainly my own sort of interest. I want to get a few things for myself that I can use that I can take with me if I ever leave or need them elsewhere.

Might be able to get the use of Altiverb for free as the other engineer has it for his own projects too.

Will check out your other suggestions in due course.

Keep them coming and many thanks. :D

    Update and question:

Was trawling the PSW forums and found some demo plugins recommended which have an unlimited trial.

Anyone ever heard of tried Massey plugins before? If so what are your experiences?

Massey TDM plug-ins are great and for the price, €420 for all 6. The De-esser is really good in particular as is tape head, i bought them and they deff are all useful. Try out the demos which are the real thing except they don't bypass and some won't do 88/96 etc.

That sort of price is pretty damn doable actually.

Will give these a shot and see how I got on. Now I just need to find some free reverbs and other FX.

    Hey D,

was thinking of getting some plug-ins for Dorans. Glade make really good plug-ins, the lavender one is great and goes really well with the 2 par can lite rig. The main plug-in for the PA is finding where to plug the engineer in!!!

Dorans could definitely use some of the Glade plugins alright.

You plug the engineer into the bar. Duh!

    Well...
Update: I installed these on the desk yesterday and gave them a brief trial over headphones. We didn't have any bands in so couldn't test them properly.

At first listen they do seem very nice. Clean, smooth sounding response from all "units".

The L2007 Mastering Limiter is going to be a very handy tool I reckon. Will check it out properly tonight though with some DJs. Stick it over the mains and see how I get on.
