    Hi Dave,

i think the first and the last work best for you - this, in my opinion down to the lighting which i think is well positioned and technically quite good (at least to a lay mans eye!)

While the light is soft enough on #2, the 'hood' pose causes a wee distracting shadow from the edge of the models eye to the bottom of the left ear which isn't wonderful. Is it a tad overexposed?

I think the light in the third one is too harsh or perhaps the models skin tone is quite pale and is overreacting to the studio light (or maybe that's that the studio light could have been toned down depending on how you look at it ;) ) In this, I don't think the pose works well for your subject although i think i understand what you were after and you actually weren't too far from getting it (eh... if that makes sense!).

Anyhow, to take the positive out of it, I think #1 and #4 work well and you've gotten the lighting quite good on them.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks for the comments AnCatDubh 1 and 4 would be my Favs aswell with 2 i did not notice the hood over the eye on till now and has made me aware of this for future shots, 3 was not a planed pose i had just finished a few shots and she just fell into that pose and i justed fired away, what i could have done was got her to stay in that position and ajusted the lights to suit. Again some thing to note for the future.
    Again Thanks..

With the "unplanned" poses, it's definitely worth stepping back. Was taking shots of my daughter last year and stepped forward to show her a picture on the camera screen when she dropped her chin onto her forearm - I just said "hold it there", stepped back and took a few shots of it. Came out great.

Agree that #1 and #4 are best light-wise. I do like the pose in #3, maybe play with it a little to reduce the light.
