Ballina won the Junior Cup. I fancied Naas to go all the way after hearing reports from a few mates who came up against them in the early stages but they were the beaten finalists. It went to the last match, down the 19th, and a guy called Pat Howley chipped in for birdie to wrap up the trophy!

The Marnock won the Barton Sheild. Captain Dermot Snow now holds two winner's medals having been a player on the '93 winning team. They were losing semi-finalists in the Senior Cup as Warrenpoint beat Casteltroy in the Final.

Clontarf won the Jimmy Bruen and Limerick beat Warrenpoint in the final of the Pierce Purcell.

Just out of curiosity, would the Barton Sheild be regarded as the "best" competition for a club to win? Or would it be Senior Cup?

Neither is ''better'' of course but all I know is that my club see the Senior Cup as the ultimate interclub to win.
