Dell Inspiron 1525??

    Hey,

    I'm considering buying a Dell Inspiron 1525 but not too sure if it's the right one to go with. A friend sent me on a list of specs to customise it with and the price would be about 720 euros. Is that good value for a good version of the 1525?

    I've had a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo model for the last few years but the battery was always terrible. That's all I really need from a new laptop...one with a decent battery life and one that can actually load a page in relatively quick time. Does anyone know if the 1525 has a good battery life? On their website you can change from a 6 cell battery to a 9 cell one for an additional 100 euro but it doesn't give any indication regarding the difference between the two.

    The only other thing was that I was going to wait till after Christmas for laptop prices to fall but I'm guessing, there wouldn't be much choice left in shops after Christmas so maybe I'm better off going for it now. Probably go through dell website...I assume they are as good/cheap as shops.

    there's a huge difference, the 6 cell is rubbish.....don't mind the website, call Dell and see can you do a deal for an extended warrnanty and a 9 cell battery....100 euro should nearly cover the both...

    Cool, thanks for that. In general though is the 1525 a decent laptop...I don't need anything too special.

    Do you need more than an hour battery life? Ok maybe not that bad when you buy first but in a year or so...

    That is universal with all lithium ion batteries. Their life depends on how they are stored/ used. I get a full 2 seconds out of my 3 year old dell!

    My only concern would that the 9 cell would be too big...I've read a few reviews which say that the 9 cell sticks out of your laptop as the 6 cell is the correct size for the 1525 and that it adds a lot of extra weight to the laptop.

    Obviously I would rather have a larger battery...the cost difference is 100 euros though. Has anyone ever seen/used a 9 cell in a 1525?
