Thought I would start this thread to find out how many times people have tried and failed for psni. This was my 3rd time and my merit number is getting worse :-(

This is my 2nd time applying. First time I failed the IST. This time around got through with merit # in mid 200's. Waiting on vetting and medical now.

I found out about 3 weeks ago. Got the Dear John letter. Merit this time was bad - around early 500.

Last year got through whole process vetting, medical, waiting game etc etc -merit number was very early 300. Still wasnt good enough. Will still try again though but never get my hopes up.

Well done Mr Fug - your merit score is great

This is my third blast at PSNI Recruitment. Failed the A/C in C12. Passed it in C13, but with a merit number in the early 600's. This time round I somehow managed to get a merit number of 100-150. Passed my medical a couple of weeks ago and I'm now just waiting to find out if I pass the vetting.

Did you ever get a Dear John for C13, or are you assuming that you're out of the running because you haven't heard back yet?

    Howdie fellow wannabe's,

Well this is my 2nd time trying:

*Failed IST last year by four marks.

*This year I have passed everything including vetting but I am still waiting on a medical date. Non RC 350's.

Im only 19 so I guess I have a few more years to attempt this whole 'being a peeler' business.

Good luck to one and all:)

Get out of the Dear John thread you!

I have faith that you will get in during C14! You have a good score and what with people failing vetting and medicals and also however many RC that will be before you in the merit list you have a good chance.

4 marks - some times it's easier on you to fail by alot than a little. This is my second time applying, first time around was two years ago and I failed the IST by ONE mark.

You gonna make me leave? Huh??:D

Thanks Kelso, I keep telling myself im in 350's if 100 above me are RC then im 250's and if another 50 or so non RC fail med/vetting, dont show to med or decline the job offer then im in the 200's. Maybe im way wrong to think that.

    Howdy Folks,

i Haven't been on in a while, the Garnerville lifestyle does not give you much free time!!!

This is probably the wrong thread but i was reading the comments posted above and i thought i would let you all know that you should keep on applying no matter how many times they knock you back. There is a person in my squad (go blues!!!) that was rejected 7 times! but he is here now!!!

It is alot of effort to go through a number of campaigns but one thing i will stress is that it is absolutely worth every effort made!

Keep applying guys and gals, they can't keep you out forever!!!

    Laters
(getting back to bulling my boots....oh the joys!!!)

Same here guys, ive been turned down about 7 times, keep at it. All i can say is, on the day you do the assessment centre, when you get home, type out everything you can remember about the day and put it in some sort of order so that it matches what you did on the day. use this to do an ortopsy or how and what you did. Then use the internet and find out the competencies and see how you could have scored extra point. Its all about the competencies and how you use them. Trust me.
I know what your sayin about time, im in the SUPER YELLOWS and free time is on hold at the moment lol
Get those boots bulled or ye'll be on SHOW PARADE lol

Has everyone got the feedback letter? What sort of scores you getting out of 70. I got 1 point higher than last year this time round. This time my Merit number was in 500's.

Last year got through Medical & Vetting and was 300's in merit pool.

Don't get the system at all!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,258 ✭✭✭carlty888

I scored in the high 50's and got a merit number of less than 150. Last year i scored 10 points fewer and was in the 600's on the merit list. I got put through the vetting and medical for C13 too. I've no idea why they bothered vetting me. Realistically, I didn't stand a chance of getting in, given my merit number and background (non-RC).

The competition must be higher this year for you to get a higher score and a lower merit number. I'm sure that's extremely frustrating. I assume you'll be putting yourself through all this again in C15? :D

Thats a really good merit number, fingers crossed for you.

All my feedback scores were pretty much the same as last year and I thought I had gained more knowledege this time around but I guess theres always room for improvement.

Ci15 here I come. Had my mind made up this time was my last but its making me more determined lol.
