I was playing live recently and some fella from Offaly called me a grinder and left the table.

I was only on the table 3/4 hour or so and was up.

Anyway I was wondering if people would take this as a compliment or a criticism?

I was playing in a live cash game recently. I was up 900 and a player at the table who is a consistent loser and moaner gave out to me for hardly ever playing a hand, not giving people action and being bad for the game etc.

There's a lesson in there somewhere.

Most live players definition of a grinder is someone who they once saw folding their small blind, or folding despite the huge value on offer after there has been a raise and one caller.

I've never had an issue with people giving out to me for being a grinder live. I can get away with being nitty cos I can pass it off as a student with my case money on the table if anyone notices. I'd give a decent amount of action in hands though so I never have to bad a rep.

oh im not kidding either. ive come across so many game in the past that regularly have the same 20 or so players and they dont care how much they are up or down cos they know they will get 'their' money back. as tho it actualy has nothing to do with how you actualy play!! they hate to see one person winning consistently and therefore will try and rile up this player to 'play properly' and stop being so tight. I have even seen a couple of cases where this person was complained to the manager for not playing enough hands!!

    Were you playing multiple tables?

Could have been worse, a grinder could have called you an Offaly man.

Take it as a compliment . . . but remember to politely thank him for his donation as he leaves the table.

It's definitely a compliment, but not as big a one as when the genuinely good players start berating you for just being a nit/rock after they've just folded top two to your suspected set (actual total air).

Dara stop implying you would dare pull such a stunt with air! Everyone knows you're a nit!
