Basically Undenominated tries to cover all aspects of each different engineering course. It does mean alot more lectures but you would expect that. In 2nd year undenominated branches out to the other engineering courses, you then start 2nd year of that course and integrate with the rest of the class.

3 lads in my class did undenominated and there getting on grand. 1st year of any engineering course in NUIG is quite broad, Im doing Electronic & Computer Engineering and in 1st year I did fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering, chemistry, AutoCad. None of this I have used since those exams, so the transition shouldnt be too big.

Dont know anything about this Engineering with Energy.... sorry now.

Ive seen the blueprints of the new engineering building, looking pretty good on paper (and its opposite the nurses building). From the NUIG website it says "due for completion by the end of 2009" but I think thats a bit hopefully seeing as they've not broke ground yet, and as it is they are building an add-on to the library so theres plenty of construction on at the mo.

Did a quick google and found this. It says it starts in 2009 so if thats the case it should be available to apply to in this years CAO.

    Check that:
The programmes will be available through
the CAO in 2009 as a change of mind and
announcements will be made to schools
before the deadlines. They will be fully
available through the CAO in 2010

I'm on the engineering faculty SSLC, and the latest scá about the engineering buiding is that it's looking like 2010. Hopefully...

I did Undenominated, great course, you get to know loads of people from all over Engineering, and if you're not sure, you get to try every type of Engineering. Definitely a good course. 1st semester hours are a bit crazy tho!

    Hey Shane....:P

They were saying 2010 to us last year also when Glavin showed us the plans. We get to look out onto the nurses building, while the staff look out onto a river of rowers.

I don't really know what you're on about with the whole 'with energy' thing, there's no mention of it in the prospectus for next year

Sure give the engineering department a bell, or an email, the sectetaries in there I find are sound enough and will answer your questions.

Try Olive or Nora, I think they're the full time ones

well i know this is off topic but do engineering students enjoy any kind of social life at all ??? please say they do. I know the hours are long but i was hopin dat wouldn affect the amount of times you go out durin d week

Course we do! Engineering has the reputation of being one of the more mad courses, where there are long hours sure, but then long hours of chilling and going out!

I'd prefer to be in college with my friends all day, and out then all night, than sitting at home watching daytime tele!

    Mallox,

I'm a mature student in the Foundation Science and Engineering course at NUI and we had a talk from the head engineering lecturer last week (Padraic O'Donoghue) and he mentioned the energy engineering your on about. Basically they are trying to put the finishing touches to the course and it will be available in September. There is no code for it at the mo but he rekons it will be after the deadline 1st feb before its released. He said if you intend to do the course to mention it on the CAO form and then you can change your order of preference when the change of mind window opens for the CAO. He said the course code will be well advertised on radio etc. You will cover all the usual engineering subjects - Mech/Elec/Civil etc with emphasis on "energy" and as far as I remember you specialise in one in 4th year. Also if you start into undemoniated you can transfer to the energy course in 2nd year. There should be more details on their website shortly or even contact Padraic.ODonoghue@nuigalway.ie the head, I'm sure he'd only be delighted to ans any queries ou may have.

    Hope this info helps

    Sillybird...
