    An Giant FCR3 '08 for €539 vs €599 for a '09 version?

Did the 09 make many improvements on the 08?

    Thanks for any advice.

Completely new frame for '09 and also comes with a carbon fork ('08 is steel). You can compare them directly on the Giant website or http://www.cyclesuperstore.ie .

Type FCR on the search on the middle left

    some great deals.

Also you are talking about spending €600. If you wait till the new year you could get the new work scheme, if in the higher tax bracket then a €1k bike will be around €600, and probably sales on in the new year (or snakes hiking the price because of the scheme!), but they say you can import too, so you could get a really good deal.

New frame and carbon fork is worth the extra €60 IMHO. Bike might be a shade lighter as a result and the fork might dampen some road buzz. Otherwise they are pretty much identical, '09 is downgraded in losing the carbon seatpost and a slightly cheaper rear derailleur (2200 vs Sora), to make up for the fork I imagine. If you can take them out for a spin do so and see if you can tell any difference.
