Do you have a specific problem?
It just takes time. The main thing is to be careful doing the data entry and make sure to send the file to the bank on time.
Have you not got someone training you? Dont worry - it will get easier.

In this day and age, no one does it manually! Payroll software does everything for you - calculates what the wage is, the tax, the PRSI, etc.

I have no idea what books you can use, sorry. You could try asking on the forum askaboutmoney.com.

    www.citizensinformation.ie

The first link will give you all information on the rights of a worker including some pay.

Revenue will give you the break down of tax credits.

Seriously ask for some payroll software. Manual payroll is asking a bit much if your not qualified. :)

Even if you're qualified, it's very difficult!

I used to find payroll very stressful, as you know any sort of mistake is going to be attacked. Of course, the stress made it more likely I was going to make a mistake... so I had to check and double check everything.

Doing it manually in a large organisation, especially if there is a commission, bonus and expenses structure, would be a nightmare!

For payroll software, I found Herbst HRM very easy to use.

Big Red Book Payroll is quite easy to use. Its around €100 and you can also get support if you are not too fimilar with payroll, not too sure how much that is. :D
