American Citizen adopting

    My husband has duel citizenship, Irish (he was born here) and American (his dad gained citizenship in the 60's and Hubbie then lived there in his 20's). I know it seems to be far easier to adopt in America. Does anyone know if we can adopt in America, as he is a citizen, even though we live here?

    Rules vary from state to state, but normally you would have to prove residency in the particular state and satisfy other rules regarding suitability, before you would be considered for adoption. An adoption registered in the US to an Irish citizen, is not automatically recognised by the Irish Adoption Authority, and the child would not automatically be entitled to rights as an Irish citizen. It is a minefield- particularly as the rules vary from state to state- you need to get specific information and proper advice.
