    Looks like a bunch of guys are working on remaking Sonic 2 from the ground up with HD sprites. You can get a taste of what they are doing here.

    I've tried it out and it does look very promising. I've already bookmarked this site and stumbled it to keep an eye on its progress

    I can't say I'm that mad on it. Sonic 2 is my favourite of the series, but I think it probably looks better at the original resolution.

    I don't think there's a hope in hell they'll ever finish the graphics either. That kind of work is incredibly labour intensive. Street Fighter 2 HD Remix has probably been gameplay complete for 6 months now but it's gotten pushed back over and over because the graphics aren't finished.

    I got the impression gameplay tweaks/balancing was why hd remix took so long in the end. Anyway this looks sweet,

    Nah it's the art that's held up SSF2HDR. The designer Sirlin was talking about it on the Shoryuken forum.

    No..

    A fine idea as like BLITZ_Molloy Sonic 2 was by far my favorite in the series but I cant see it being completed... simply to much effort for a game which would have limited appeal to the the gamers of today.

    I think it depends on the community interest in it. If enough people get involved with it, it could be completed fairly quick. But as these people are working for free I guess there won't be a definite time line until completion.

    Well if it took a professional team a year to do SF2. Then it's going to take a group of amateurs 10 years. And the quality is going to be alot lower. Drawing HD2D art is alot more labour intensive than creating art assets for a HL2 mod or something.
