Have a BCl and all my FE1's is there anything I could be/should be doing to get this dammed apprent. other than the obvious banging out begging letters??/ Would doing a legal exec course be any use?? Any advice as I'm at my wits end..tnx.

    1. Read the other threads regarding Unemployed Solicitors/Annoyed Trainees/Doom and Gloom within the profession, after that if you are still insistent on becoming a solicitor then perseverence and lots of it is what you will need is what you will need.

    2. I can't see that a Legal Exec course would be in any way helpful to you as you already possess more than sufficient qualifications. If you really want to be a legal exec then change your begging letter from apprenticeship only to 'I'd ideally like an apprenticeship but would consider anything else (except cleaning the loos)' style.

Whilst it is very tough, eventually you'll get something the only problem with this approach is that you have very little control over the type of law you will qualify into. If you want to work in a big firm you could also consider enhancing your cv by getting some sort of relevant experience i.e. banking, insurance, IFSC type job. This is probably what I'd do myself (if I wasn't already a trainee) at least this way you will feel like you're not wasting your time i.e. gaining quality experience over photocopying and filing that you would be doing in a law firm, whilst also having the added bonus of being able to sit tight until things pick up again(hopefully) in the legal profession.

    Best of luck.
