Anyone for a Coup D'etat?

Right, small rant with some humour coming right up. Try and struggle to the end, good lads.

When I voted for FF 18 months ago, we were doing quite well for ourselves. I was new to the whole voting thing and have know nothing other than the Celtic Tiger cub lifestyle I'd been living. So, in my naiveity, I decided that nothing too big has gone wrong so far (the Health service was the big exception at the time but I convinced myself Harney would sort it) so why not give them another few years.

Then Bertie resigned, leaving Biffo in charge. And since that happened (edit: or so I thought), we now have a comletely corrupt government of 15 (oh wait, 30 when you count all the buffoons in junior ministries, invented purely as an excuse to pay them more) incompetent fools who couldn't run a country for shít. I thought, why have the government suddenly become so ballsy? Then it hit me that it's only become so apparent since smiley Ahern left how fúcked this country is, and simply because the government has been listening to their fat wallets and nothing else.

As was pointed out in another thread, €500m has been found for a "developer bailout", which will basically be finded by 1% of our incomes. For the last 20 years, massive tracts of land have been developed when it seems they shouldn't have. The country was rolling in it but now we're the first of 27 countries in the EU to hit recession. What does all this mean? Gross mismanagement, corrupt politicians and general incompetence in government. Every part of this country is disorganised, from transport and the environment to health, justice and social welfare. I could go on quite literally for ever.

And the worst part? From what I've seen on TV and the like, combined with the Green Party sellout (nearly ran Trevor over with the car the other day, I'm almost sorry I stopped) I can see absolutely no evidence to prove that any other political party could or would be able to do any better.

So, what do I do? I'm in a handy position in college, and will be able to sponge for pretty much as long as this recession lasts within reason, unless something goes fairly pear shaped. I'm not yet affected badly by it and am looking on with mere curiosity. But it's not lost on me that many people are for want of a better word, going to be royally screwed. So who do I vote for, what can I do to make this change? They say people power works, but only if many people pile together.

I'm starting to think this coup idea may be the only answer if theres going to be anything left by the time I need to look for a proper job here.

Serious discussion (like fúck in AH but hey we'll try) welcome.

This is the right thing to do. The chances of you actually affecting the running of a nation are very small, so just take the easy route until things pick up.

I thought dead politicians (or almost) was the sort of thing that attracted laughter here. Seems I was wrong. :P

Stands, looks left and right. Waits for some1 to jump on the government bashing bandwagon not actually having a clue about anything. Then the inevitable immigrant bashing. That's when I'll get my quip in :D !

Coup D'etat? I'd much prefer to sterilise every single person who voted for Fianna Fail, then ship them off to an Island and replace them with educated Poles. Is that feasible?

Close but he hasn't actually attacked the government directly and is pro immigrant. Looks like I'll have to wait a little longer.

You should have given us some incentive to do that :D Next time put at the top: NAKED PICTURES OF JENNIFER ELLISON WILL POP UP ON YOUR SCREEN IF YOU READ EVERY WORD OF THIS POST.

I'm a pretty smart guy, but if I saw that... I'd probably read the whole thread, just to be certain I did not miss out.

Communism, the only way to go to be honest.

Capitalism works for the few at the expense of the many, Communism (real communism) has never been tried nor is it probably possible to try.

Democracy doesn't work because quite frankly a lot of people are stupid.

As a greek philosopher said, the people who want power are the last people that you should give it to. (or something along those lines)

Theres no system that works for everyone, only the few.

A coup d'etat is when a part of the government (usually the army or a part of the army) overthrows the rest of the government. You're thinking of a rebellion/revolution.
