    Mark,

What you see is the new standard issue Met Area (RT) Car BMW 320i. This vehicle will be rolled out to every borough in the MPD as a standard pursuit vehicle within the next 12 months. Its the basic pursuit capable vehicle at borough level.

On division here 'PC Plod' usually drives a police spec 1.7 litre turbo diesel Astra, in the Met, or a Focus outside the Met, these are the run of the mill panda cars.

Traffic and Armed Response use higher spec vehicles, in the Met usually 5 series BMWs, outside the Met it varies but usually Saab, Ford Galaxy, Mercedes, Lexus....etc.

    :confused:Is that drooling that hurts?

On the subject of cars, why are Garda cars almost always saloon versions?
Estates or 5 door saloons would make more sense to me. If there's exra cost involved, surely a bit of negotiating by a bulk buyer would work haggle their way out of this.

Yeah Metman, we've been using those cut outs as well. But credit to the Met it does look more realistic than ours. :D

Gardai have an unmarked one of these, patrols the portlaoise bypass and surrounds.

ERU also have unmarked 530d estates. Ohh and by the way they are not "d" reg (plates are fake) and have tax and insurance discs (fake) and no aerials!!

    +1

    Fookin disaster
Ours didnt go 3 weeks without a visit to the main dealer, it usually was in every forthnight

Every electrical problem you could imagine, went thru gear box's at a higher rate than normal, clutches, suspension, steering rods, bulbs, a/c, seats broke, central locking broke, alarm kept going off, wouldnt start, kept arriving back to the station on a tow truck,

All that in the first 6 months, the second 6 months got really bad

I presume they'd still be traceable back to AGS tho' in the event of some form of traffic incident, and not just random regs?

I wouldn't have thought that Passats would be ERU material

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,818 ✭✭✭donvito99

Would the 525d Passat be some Detectives personal car or would it be a proper garda commisioned one?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,818 ✭✭✭donvito99

Although the Vectras ( I'm hearing of) are shi*e, it is a very smart looking car, but as deadwood would know, looks can be decieving.:D

I'm the sole Vectra driver in my company, the rest are Mondeos. I can honestly say I love the Vectra and wasn't too pushed on the Mondeo. The new Insignia tho' will really throw the cat among the pigeons in that category.
