do a forum search for 'tripod cheap' or something similar. This has been discussed many times.

I use Manfrotto monopods & tripods.
I find them to be well built & reliable.

I bought one in dixons for about 25-30euro. Light and compact. Can't remember the make now.

Manfrotto make excellent tripods, but for €60 mightn't be enough. See online if you can get one of the 190 range for that price (shouldn't be too much more). Slik are meant to be fairly good and have some cheaper ones in their range.

I would recommend strongly against buying a cheap tripod, unless all you want to use it for is to include yourself in group portraits. Or self portraits for that matter.

Cheap tripods are flimsy and therefore shake like leaves in a breeze. They are also generally not very tall so using them can be uncomfortable.

I also recommend buying a Manfrotto - they are reasonably cheap (compared to other professional tripods) and are very stable, easy to use and reliable.

The 190 series is a great entry level, and with a head should cost no more than EUR225 or so. That may seem a lot, but it will last you for life, and you'll wonder how you managed without it.

When buying a tripod, make sure you can use it comfortably with the center column lowered - raising this reduces the stability of the tripod quite considerably, and should never be done unless absolutely necessary to get the shot.

Using a tripod effectively is one of the best ways to improve the quality of your photography - it eliminates camera shake when used with the self-timer or cable release (or with a careful press of the shutter) and forces you to slow down and think a bit more about the image you're about to make.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers,
    Peter

    Thanks for the replies.
    I found this on Adorama
but the free shipping is only within the states. When I go to checkout it still hasnt calculated the shipping price.
Anyone have any opinions on this tripod?
Anyone recommend any Irish or UK sites?

I haven't used that particular one, but should do fine. Shipping for something like that from the States will be pretty pricey, you're probably better off either going to a camera shop locally or getting it from something like 7dayshop.co.uk.

    Cheers,
    Peter

Ordered off mymemory. Free delivery to europe so only cost £49.99 (€63).
    Delivery on B&H would have been $49 + $115 = $164 (€124). I think I have got quiet a good bargain:D
