laptop hanging on shutdown

    has anyone had problems on a laptop hanging windows shutting down screen . just hanging .
    have to turn off via power button and hate doing it incase i get a blue screen or a hard disc scan for errors

    do full scan for malware/spyware ,spyware doctor free download ,trial version,is a very good scanner to use.SOUNDS like some windows system files are damaged, you could reboot,put in winxp cd,press r for repair option.or you could try reboot,holddown f8 ,safemode,directory services restore option.its option 6 in the safeboot menu.

    It sounds like that your operating system is corrupted due to a wrong file or a malicious spyware/virus...Can you give me the error number when you have the blue screen ?
