wifi help!

My friend has formatted his dad's laptop. Everything seems to be working fine but he can't connect to wifi or even see the wifi networks. The disk with the drivers is damaged. It's an old lidl computer; targa traveler 811. He can't find a driver anywhere online for it but is just wordering is he doing something wrong cos he has no experience with wifi connections.

Is there a Wireless Network Connection in the Network Connections folder?

Has he checked the device manager to see if the system is showing up any missing drivers?

If the worst happens and the link above does not find the driver for him he could simply buy a usb wireless card.

Are the wifi Cards on those laptops not pretty easy to check the manufacturer / product number if you unscrew one or two screws on the underside? Having said that havent seen a targa in a good long while.
