Howdy. Was looking for some feedback on how I could edit these photos to improve them. Any feedback on the photos themselves are also welcome. They are amateur. :)

    Link below to random photos!

The photos in the album are as they were originally taken accumulated over the years hence the variable levels of "expertise"! Therefore none of the photos have been altered yet. Im using Pixelmator to edit photos on Mac.

    Thanks!

I only tried one image for you as I'm still going through my own from the weekend. All I did was a bit of colouring, brightness, curves and levels :)

Maybe if you wanted to know something a bit more specific you could post up just one image and what you want to get out of it. Maybe pop it into here.
    Hope that helps!
    :)

Photoshop / the Gimp and most serious image editing applications (and some not so serious) have a control / feature known as curves which allow you to adjust colour, contrast, and brightness by 'pulling' a line up or down along a x-y scale. Typically you will see people using an 'S' curve which is strangely enough shaped like an 'S' (!) You basically click on the lower part of the line to the left, click on the upper part of the line to the right and hey presto you have a 'S' curve which can do wonders for images. You can adjust the points there after to highten or lower the intensity.

That's the gist of it anyhow (if not a technically perfect explanation) - you have to try it to appreciate it. You can go mad with it so subtlety is probably the name of the game.

Like the statues one. Keep up the good work. Look into using Levels. I find it easier to understand than curves and once you get the hang of levels curves starts to make more sense!
