What is the area of speciality that cover things like nerves and/or blood vessels. Is it a neurologist, or does a neurologist just cover nerves?

Neurology would be dealing with the nervous system and then you'd have something like cardiology or cardiac surgery for blood vessels and the heart.

Thank you - vascular, that was the word I was trying to remember. I've never seen a vascularologist though - maybe we should make some up?

Dr Venus Cava - the vascularologist
    Dr Adam Orta

Well, I was originally thinking about blood vessels in the legs, but bear in mind I was thinking of it at midnight, so you can judge the importance of the question in relation to the sleepiness of the questioner :)

Vascularologist eh? Wouldn't that be like having a plumber that knows all abount pipes but can't do anything to fix them? Might be a bit of a useless...

Sounds a bit like most plumbers I've hired.

I think I'm going to rename myself Venus Cava, and print business cards saying Vasularologist.

"No, no, I can't operate on you, I suggest you see a doctor for that. But I can tell you the names of various parts of your plumbing. That will be €180 please."

there's no such thing as a vascularologist or whatever!

You would want to see your gp who can refer you.

Depending on what it is you may be referred to a vascular surgeon or a rheumatologist for certain conditions, someone suggested plastic surgeon, this might be a possibility but not for most cases.

It's OK, I'm good, thanks - just was having difficulty remembering the word vascular initially, and being silly after that :)
