Is anyone else getting sick of listening to Mickey Harte's opinions on International Rules? On the radio and in the papers every f****** day spouting the same old rubbish. Alright Micky,we get it, you don't like it, stop trying to turn others against it. Let Sean Boylan and the lads get on with their job without your daily barrage of negative comments, please. Its getting tiresome at this stage.

He's entitled to his opinion and as a three time All-Ireland winning manager, he'll get listened to. For what it's worth, I agree with him while another mod here doesn't. We just get on with it. Everybody is entitled to their opinion.

While I dont agree with MH regarding Intl Rules I would sit up an listen to what he has to say. I agree with him on his assessment of a lot of things like the back door situation in the AI. He is an honest man that provides thoughtful opinions and like Smashy ( or Mr. McWrong as I call him) says hes entitled to his opinion...

having said all that I think he is wrong... however I am more in favour of him coming out now and saying he doesnt like the series than waiting for it to be a disaster (not that I think it will be) and then saying "I always thought it was a bad idea" as so many will/would in the situation.

Even if this tour is a raging sucess I guarentee he will say he still doesnt like it and will be man enough to admit if time proves him wrong.

He has a point in that we shouldn't be showcasing our players to the AFL and that in the last two series the Aussies seemed to be only interested in doing a bit of flaking.

But on the other hand I think the horse has bolted now on the whole AFL recruiting Irish players and I think it had more to do with Tadhg Kennelly's success than the Intl Rules. The only way we can try and stop AFL recruiters is give the young lads something to stay for (college scholarships directly from the GAA for example).

On the discipline issue hopefully the fact that if someone is sent off in theses series now means they are banned in their own games might help lads settle down on both sides

Agreed their. At least Mickey Harte and Tyrone can win an All Ireland with good football, unlike the kick, bite and pull ' tactics ' of Meath. Anyway ,I'm totally against these Aussie matches, their a waste of time and people only watch for the brawling.

What decade did that post come from ?
Tyrone are not angles ( and never were), Meath are no longer the bad boys of GAA ..and havent been for some time. And I for one will be watching the Intl Rules for the sport, so you dont speak for me ( or lots of "people" for that matter) . I dont expect to see too many fights at all. Only watching for the brawling... what would be the point when you can watch real brawling in the UFC ?

Couldnt agree more Al, when this sport is played in the right spirit it is fantastic to watch.

I think Mickey Harte is a fool. He was going on that the GAA should have an international féile instead??? and that it could get up to inter-county standard. Yeah right Mickey Joe.

I thought there was an international Feile already no ? not a terrible idea but not to replace intl rules. I see nothing worong in the concept of Feile X factor ..or XFeile.

P.S. How does one type a fadda ?

Yes because the All-Ireland Tyrone won in 2003 was vintage gaelic football(not that it matters, can't imagine too many of you Dublin fans complaining if you won Sam with 'kick, bite and pull tactics' as you put it)

Mickey Harte is entitled to his opinion, no doubt about that, but he seems to be on a one man crusade to get rid of the sport and its getting tiresome now. The ironic thing is that some of the most dedicated squad members this year are the Tyrone lads, with 5 of them(including Cavanagh) turning up for Irish training the Saturday after their All-Ireland victory.

Btw, nobody i know is going to be watching these games specifically for the 'brawling'. These clashes often throw up some serious entertaining football, just look back at the match in Galway in the 2006 series.

Perhaps this is the driving force behind his opinion. hes managed these guys for so long and perhaps he is trying to protect them from burnout or injuries or recruitment or something ?

Well surely that counts for all counties then, yet other inter-county managers let their players get on with it, they realise how big an honour it is for players to represent their country and in some cases they support them. At the very least Mickey Harte should let his players get on with it,and stop the constant sniping. He's insulting everyone involved in the game, and that includes 3 greats who are on the managment team this year, Sean Boylan, Eoin 'bomber' Liston and Anthony Tohill. Sean and Bomber in particular, these men have been involved in Gaelic Games at the highest level a lot longer than Mickey Harte.

In fairness to him, there appears to be no pressure on his players to pull out and as pointed out, they're super-committed so clearly, he's not getting in their way.

ps I've just thanked about 17 of you for your posts... you've obviously caught me in a good mood - don't expect it all the time :)

Agree with above, most people will be watching looking for a good punch-up.

Dont think it has no future, does not help things either that former Australian coach Kevin Sheedy has stoked the fires by branding Sean Boylan a "leprechaun".

I have to say I dont really get the opposition to this. if you dont like it dont watch it, there are enough people who will enjoy it so it is worthwhile.
