    Hi,

    I'm looking for a bit of help in connecting my Philips DVD Recorder to Sky Plus. At the moment my Sky Plus box is set up to my TV. However, I can't figure out now how to connect the DVD recorder up as the instructions are quite poor, and involve connecting up the DVD recorder first.
    How do I go about this? Thanks.

    I'm not trying to be funny, or smart, but doesn't your sky+ box eliminate the need for recording onto your dvd player?

    Why can't you just connect both of them to the tv via scart or composite ? Sorry I misread. Why do you want to connect a dvd recorder to a sky plus box ?

    Because only a certain amount of space exists on Sky Plus and we're looking to back up some recorded programmes onto DVD. Our TV only has one SCART connector too so Sky Plus and the DVD recorder need to be connected in some way....I can keep trying but if someone can tell me quickly it'd be appreciated.

    Take a look here http://www.xtendedplay.co.uk/skyskyhd-drive-upgrades-ct-3_20.html .

    Put a scart from the dvd to the sky box then another scart or composite from the dvd to the tv.

    From the sound of it, it seems like the poster already has a DVD recorder, so I doubt s/he would want to spend another 80 or 90 quid on a new HD.

    I did this exact job today. The Sky+ box has two Scart outputs. One is for TV, the other is for DVD/Video recorder. Both are labeled accordingly.

    Our DVD recorder also has 2 Scart sockets, one for output to TV and the other one takes input from the Sky+ box. Easy peasy!

    So its:
    Sky+ --> DVD recorder
    Sky+ --> TV
    DVD rec --> TV

    If your TV only has one Scart input, it makes it a bit more difficult, you'll need to get a Scart multi-adapter / switcher or something like that.

    no you don't - the Sky box will play through the DVD recorder, this is how I have mine setup...

    Sky+ -> DVDR -> TV

    works fine. When the DVD recorder is on standby, the Sky signal goes straight through to the TV. If the DVDR is on, then it takes priority, but you just have to make sure its set to the right input (EXT1 or whatever) to get the Sky signal, and you can then record whatever is playing out from the Sky box...
