Yes i second this question, am planning to take the OH away on a weekend break & need a nice but reasonable hotel, just somewhere to rest our heads & with access to the city on the metro or whatever....

Stayed in the following hotel with Mrs and kids last February and thought it an ideal location. Nice and clean and friendly

First I'd advise you to AVOID the Roma Reial. Its very central and cheap but it is an awful place to stay!! We ended up leaving the hotel after 10 minutes cause I've never seen anything as bad!

Anyway, we then went to the Barcelona Center Hotel, which was absolutely amazing and in a very good location.

Have a look here, I think we paid around 80 pP/pN in September 2007.

We stayed here a couple of years ago and it was very good - www.hostalgoya.com . It's very central and the rooms are very clean and modern. The downside is that some rooms are very small, and some don't have a bathroom. Breakfast is not included in the rates but there's an all-you-can-eat place called Lactuca across the road that does great value breakfasts (and lunches and dinners). If you have a room that opens onto the street it might be noise - it is the city centre after all.

    Would definitely stay there again.

I stayed at Hostal Boqueria, at La Rambla in July. Lovely place and very central. Can't remember how much we paid for it, but looking at their website its a little over your budget by about 50euro. Breakfast wasn't included, which I thought was a bit of a bugger, but there's plenty of places nearby that do cheap breakfast so it wasn't too bad.

    Feliz Viaje!!!

I stayed in Hotel Caledonian a while back, its very central and prices are quite reasonable.

I stayed in the Expo hotel and it was very good. Lobby was not very big and was always busy but rooms very good and nice bar and restaurant.

It's not so central but very much walkable to the Ramblas. Or else a cab or metro or bus.

Suited me as it is next to the train station.

You won't get ANY more central than this place. It's clean and functional - nothing too glam! But the location cannot be beat.
