    DCU is made of win, seriously awesome college and from what I've heard from people in other colleges we seem to have one of the best clubs and socs scenes in the country.

    Do you live in South Dublin? Is that why you prefer it? Or have you been listening to people/the media bad mouth it? If its the latter then ignore it, DCU has a lovely campus, is close to town and has some great courses. As robby said it also has one of the best Clubs & Socs scenes in the country.

    As the FAQ says...
    Is DCU any Fun?
    This question is asked repeatedly here by CAO candidates when considering their choice of college/university. The most common response is that: "College is what you make of it". If you want to go to DCU to party, you will find yourself partying. DCU is neither boring nor lacks social life. People are boring and lack social lives. DCU contains some of these people. Other colleges contain some of these people. Other colleges contain people who party hard. DCU contains people who party hard.

    If you're still unsure just go to the various Open Days and check out the campus' but at the end of the day it should be the course that dictates where you go, not the university. It's a mistake many people make and it usually ends up with them either dropping out, following a career not related to their degree or hating the place after a short time.

    I picked DCU as it had the newest engineering building in the country.
    Everything else was a bonus! :)

    What course are you looking at doing?

    Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

    I did my undergrad in Ucd and i am now currrently doin my post grad in DCU. i thoroughly enjoyed my 3 years in UCD where the lectures absolutely spoon fed us everything. i have to say i prefer DCU the classes are smaller and therefore everyone is closer. it's also easier and cheaper to find accommodation around DCU than UCD. One of the drawbacks about DCU is the bar doesn't open till 5 o clock so no all day sessions like those in UCD:(

    I live in South Dublin, and I go to DCU, and I really am quite glad I amn't over in UCD.
    DCU has an all-round better atmosphere, and there's less pricks from what I can see.
    Plus, you have the 19a, 13a etc. to ferry you to DCU, and personally I've come to enjoy thinking of things to do on the bus.
    DCU = Win

    My brother used to go there and he loved it. I used to go their summer camp when I was young lad and I loved it! Hopefully I will be going there as well next year.

    I went to UCD for a year because it was in South Dublin nad I figured it was convienient and the place to be. I didn't like it at all, flunked out and then went to DCU which I think is alot better, plus the 19a stops on my road and leaves me straight there and it takes about the same amount of time as the 17 to UCD.

    Yea man, i garauntee you'll LOVE it at DCU. It really is brilliant, i cant compare it to any other college but I cant imagine it being any better. As the sticky says, if you want to study, you can study, if you want to party, you can party. Or ye can do both!!

    If you prefer UCD because it's southside and not because that is handier for you, then there's a chance you may be the type of person that should go there.
