    hey guys,
it's been a while, this forum seems to have dwindled somewhat in the past year or two which is a shame.. fadetoblack, sjones, masterk et all, heyooo..

this may not be appropriate for the forum (so please delete if it's against the rules) but i just thought i'd post this here as it's rare to find horse racing fans on adverts.ie and the like..

anyways, if any of ye know of any place that i might find 2 tickets for the breeders cup this year it'd be much appreciated.. we'd be looking for decent seats and willing to pay a handsome price if required..

    thanks, nick..

$50 pay in at the gate each day.

I am heading there myself tomorrow and taking in 4 days in Vegas before it.

Heading myself too and will be paying at the gate.

NicK, you could keep an eye on craiglist for grandstand tickets.

    http://losangeles.craigslist.org/tix/

    For example.

    good stuff..
the example above is exactly what i was looking for, cheers.. it's great to know that it's possible to buy them at the gate also if we get stuck..

i presume of course that you'll be employing the amazing crumbssystem over the 2days crumbs?

I paid at the gate in Santa Anita 5 years ago anyway. Don't go for the expensive tickets though. You will be able to upgrade yourself once inside with a bit of neck and Irish charm!

actually ended up buying some grandstand tickets which were handy to a certain extent.. but all the craic towards the end of the evening was to be had at the front of the grandstand, so spent most of my afternoon there..

after getting a decent spot, (seriously!!), there's no better thrill than watching you're horse produce that turn of foot down the homestretch and find a fellow fan, (or 10,000), screaming and shouting him on, alongside you.. (regardless of where you are in the world) :)

anyways, it had the races, the dirt, the long lines, the traffic, the mess, the terrible odds.. everything you would recognise from an irish festival... except, with better horses, better weather, better view... only thing missing, were the irish..

Glad it worked out for you nick. It was in front of the grandstand we were 5 years ago also. There were a good few Irish there then anyway. Its a bit of a journey from Hollywood though. Wonder where is it on next year, somewhere hot like there or Dallas hopefully.

Santa Anita again next year, which will be good for potential repeat performers. Then Churchill Downs in Kentucky in 2010.

Had a great time myself even though the Crumbs System was suffering from seconditis.

aigh.. t'was a fantastic festival all in all..

the irish people there amounted to much more than i ever expected which ended up being a great laugh...

(and yes, it's booked for santa anita again next year which after this year's showing can only be a good thing.. )

as per usual, i left all my plans to last minute.. t'was a shame we never managed to bump into any of the regulars around here but all of the irish drunktards at the rails definately kept us entertained throughout so we never felt tooo far from home.. :)

No reason to pay $50 into the Clubhouse next year as there is as much viewing for the $20 ticket. If you want a nice reserved seat then it is better to pay the $100 as the clubhouse is useless and offers little more in the way of beers or food.

I enjoyed it myself apart from being beside the "We love you Frankie" morons that were chanting non stop after the Ravens Pass win. I do miss the dirt track though as I use to put in endless hours of study ahead of the meeting and be rewarded very nicely indeed with the results. This year it was Stardom Bound and Conduit that covered the expenses with a near miss on Westphalia. I am annoyed that I let Goldikova slip through the net however.

LA itself is an absolute disaster of a city though and a trip down to San Diego for a few days is very much advised.
