    Hi all,

sorry if this may have been asked before, but i couldnt find if it had. Basically im travelling around south america at the moment and bought a Cannon 400 sd...? (i think).. bit of an amature photographer! only got the camera before i came away, but basically my bag fell from the over head storage on a bus and the screen is broken, not smashed but it doesnt work and looks like the ink has run... (if that makes sense!) does anyone know if this can be fixed? I´m pretty sure it is still taking photos, but i just cant review them or use some of the settings that require the screen.

Really appricate any advice anyone has, or if this has happened to someone else let me know if you managed to get it fixed.
    Thanks!

    Hey!

Most likely the camera is taking pictures, but only get the camera repaired at an authorised service centre, otherwise, goodbye warranty.

I know exactly what you mean by ink running, thats what a Liquid Crystal Display looks like when its broken, the only way to fix it is to replace the screen, so you are out of luck until you find the repair center.

In a way what you are experiencing is the way people with film cameras experience photography, no peeking until its developed. However you have the advantage of been able to take pics without wasting film!

    Take care

    Peter

Thansk for the advice, ive found a place that reckon they should be able to do it, definitly not an authorised service centre, but i really do want it fixed im travelling for a year an the warrenty is only for a year as well, so i may just go with it, have to go back tomorrow to see what the story is cos the repair guy wasnt their, u think i should hold off to keep the warrenty? thing is im never going to know if the memory card has filled up or if the battery`s low and things like that, kinda basic really, when i could just keep it charged and try and load my photos onto a mempory stick every so often.

I just want my screen back!! ill see what they say tomorrow, cost etc.
    Thanks for the response
