From a health and safety point of view, I'm not sure stopping at this point was ever a good idea.

Buses shouldn't stop on dual carriageways, unless its an urban dual carriageway with a footpath running alongside it and proper bus stops. For example on the N4, while stopping outside the Spa Hotel outbound is fine (footpath provided, proper bus stop, etc) stopping on the inbound carriageway between the Lucan slip road and the on-slip after Woodies - a strech for which there is no place to allow passengers alight other than onto the hard shoulder - should have been a no-no. Yet I saw buses (including CIE ones) do it (they can't any more, thank goodness, because of the road works)
