    Hi all,

I had a couple of €k's worth of gear stolen a while ago, and am just beginning to attempt to replace it, and was thinking I really should try to insure it.

I rent a place in Dublin, (can't add to contents) and am having real trouble finding a way to insure my stuff.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated...

Bank of Ireland used to insure rented places if you were on your own (or with a partner) not sure if they still do.

i eventually insured all my gear - but it was for World Wide which was a bit more spendy than just Irealnd or Europe. I had to supply serial numbers and model number of each item etc. They wouldn't insure any individual item priced over €6,000.
The extra on the premium was € 180.
    BTW i'm with Zurich/Eagle Star
I don't know if they insure rented or would take on just the equipment.

    Can't add to contents?

I got contents only from allianz there a few weeks ago. 30k coverage with 6k unspecified all risks for a little short of 200 euro, as a monthly direct debit (so feck all really)... So if I drop the camera or the kids jump on it, even if I'm out of the house, I'm (again, in theory) covered.

Axa do contents only too. Not being nosey, but why can't you add to contents? Even if there is contents insurance from whomever you rent with (and there usually isn't) you can take out your own policy.

Cheers everyone - appreciate the responses!

I didn't realise it was so easy to insure contents in a rented apt. Looks like problem solved!

    Thanks again.
