There are a load of complainey threads on AH at the moment, and indeed most of the country seems to be in whine-mode- as they have every right to be, it seems everyone feels hard-done by lately.

So along with all these complaints and Shoulda Woulda Couldas, does anyone have any concrete ideas about where to go now? Obviously it's time for us to take action as a nation and not just whinge on internet forums, so how do we pull ourselves out of the rut we are in now?

    We've gotten far too secular.

We need to go back to nature by burning a giant, politician filled, wickerman on Leinster House lawn.

the obvious solution is to start trying to balance out the system by creating a liberal party.

1st of all that's never going to happen.

2nd of all if it did, it would end up full of all sorts of hardcore nutjobs and subsequently never get voted in. Hopefully if we apply enough pressure one of the main parties will go liberal.

I don't mean p.d's pretending to be liberal for more votes, i'm talking about a party that actually understands the need to limit the power of the government in order to protect the people from oppression.

1st, Lolz how is that the "obvious solution"?

2nd, why a liberal party? Liberal in what sense, there are dozens of definitions.

3rd, government oppression is not how the economy went into recession.

Well if you agree with me on most points your quite welcome to join me!

    I believe the following:

    1. We have become far too soft on offenders.
    2. Chain gangs might be introduced for repeat offenders.
    3. A prison should be built that is strictly a prison - not a holiday camp.
    4. Life sentences should mean that - LIFE!!!
    5. Anyone that kills a cop - is executed.
    6. Anyone that seriously injures a cop/nurse/paramedic/fire-person gets life.
    7. Anyone with a knife/gun/weapon get a minimum 5 years, NO parole.
    8. Anyone with an illegal weapon gets minimum 5 years prison, NO parole.
    9. A three strikes system. On third strike (breaking the law), your in for LIFE!
    10. Rape prisoners are placed in normal confinement with other prisoners. NO special treatments. NO segregation from others and kept in their own sections.
    11. We adopt a points system like America, Australia and Canada to control the influx of foreign nations.
12 A cut back on the "Big Brother" privacy powers that are allow our privacy to be watered down.
    13. The fear of breaking the law has to has to be put back into criminals.
    14. Our T.D.s are paid to much (including "perks") and their work should be paid related to their productivity!

not the solution, but the obvious way forward (there's rarely a quick fix).
Right now, there's a huge minority of people with liberal beliefs but no party that represents them. With no party representing them these people have no voice and have grown dissillusioned with irish politics, making it easier for current parties to do stuff they shouldn't get away with. do you not agree that a liberal party would balance out our politics?

liberal as in being socially permissive (i.e 24 hour pubs ect). Our economy was hit so bad because we let house prices get way too high. This is more to do with those in charge being selfish/idiots rather than a set of idealogical beliefs.

Your manifesto is terrible, poorly thought out, vague, borderline incompetent, and designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator by offering unrealistic 'quick fixes' to deep rooted problems.

Enjoy your next ten years in power.
