Feckin hell! It's like asking "What types of cheddar do you prefer?". Man, both are as geeky as the other. But if I HAD to like absolutely had to decide on one? I'd say Star Trek Nyerds. They have more history to go through.

See, this is why Star Wars is better. Getting locked and hitting each other with stick going "zwing............zhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhwing".

It's either that or pointing smaller sticks at each other and going "ptchoooooooo ptchoooooooo zap zap zap".

Which of the above appeals more to the male psyche?

Deadly serious, the same guy once practically broke down into tears because we said that Spock would definitely beat Q in a bar room brawl. We hadn't a clue who Q was, but it went a little someone like this after we heard him mentioning it.

Friend: "So...who would ya reckon would win in a bar room brawl, spock or Q?"
Him: "That's......that's just ludicrous."
Friend: "Yeah....Spocks a legend alright."
Him: (expodes) "What!! Q....Q is like god, it's incomphrendible Spock could win!"
Other Friend: "Yeah but Spock could use Mind Melt?"
Him: (Furious) "IT'S MIND MELD!!- ANYWAY (incredulous voice), Spock...he just couldn't....Q is like....god!"
Friend: "Ah now...in fairness.....spock..."
Him (trembling with rage): "NO-"
Other Friend: "He could do it on the sly like, like a kidney punch, I'd say Spock's that kinda guy"
Him: WHAT- That's stupid, Q sees EVERYTHING, he's like god, I - Hang on....Hang on I'll get my dad and ask him."
Rings Phone. Waits for answer with incredibly red face. Practically trembling with rage.
Him: "Yeah - dad? Yeah! Who do you think would win in a fight? Spock, or Q? Spock. And Q. Star Trek. Yeah....Yeah. (triumphant). Yeah! I told them....they said Spock would win! I know...yeah."

At this point we just gave up entirely and fell about laughing.

Poll is flawed. I'm as obsessed with Star Trek as I am with Star Wars and if that makes me a "nerd", then "Make it so".

I suppose it depends what you define as being "geekier". like I'm a major Star Wars fan, but the fact that I also read books written by Stephen Hawkings is why I'd class myself as a geek...not so much the fact I have an interest in a fictional universe.

It all depends on how hardcore a fan is. I don't think whether it's Star Trek or Star Wars counts. It depends on the person, and how much into either one they are. It's like asking, who are the fatter drunken yobs, Liverpool or United fans??

Trekkies, no question! I'm a big fan of Star Wars, and I'm a well wisher of Star Trek (in that I don't wish it any specific harm) in all it's guises. Well, if it was on, I wouldn't turn it off, and I used to be a bigger Trek fan in my Teen years. However, I find that when Trekkies "get into" Star Trek, they tend to go into it a whole lot deeper than the average Star Wars fan.

Oh and I forgot, sure even Futurama gave a nod to how "devoted" Trekkies get into their "hobby/religion/program". Underline whichever applies to you!
