    Hi All,

I have had a horrible time with a contractor that has overcharged by a very substatial amount for workk carried out on a commercial property.

My partner(who doesn't understand building),asked him to do a lot of work and then recieved an invoice for an amount tht is frankly daylight robbery.

There was an agreement to do the work, but no quote was given or agreed, so he just charged what he wanted when the work was complete.

I am loathe to pay him and would ask if I have any chance of renegotiation on price?

The work that was done was good, not excellent, but we are happy with it.

Thanks in advance for any replies/advice,

    Slimbo

who hires something to do something without first known what its going to cost?:confused:

you cant renegotiate when there was no initial negotiation.....

Why do you think you are being overcharged?

You didn't have a quote at the start but somehow feel the price is too much.
Negiotations are always possible but what can you negiotate on? As Syd says above you had no starting price so how can you say the finishing price is too much.

No offence intended but as a commercial project, a Judge would find it difficult to understand how a business person got into this situation. Quotes, contracts and invoices are the daily norm for you.
