    Hey Guys,

I am thinking of trying to compete in a triathlon in approx 6 to 8 months time..

I was wondering if ye know of any good internet resources in regards training routines?

The swim will probably be my hardest leg.

I can run 10km in ~45min and do 40Km on the bike in ~ 1h20m so I'm most concerned with my swimming abilities

    Thanks

    Dan

    http://www.d3multisport.com/articles.php

Very good articles on general training

    http://www.tri-monkey.co.uk/monkeyarticles.asp

    Good Ironman focused articles

Alot of the tri clubs organise swim training weekends, try to keep an eye out for one that is happening with a top coach. This sort of thing works wonders.

Why not consider joining the boards running club, one of our coaches is a triathlon athlete and apparently quite good.

I'm only playing with the idea at the moment so just need some starter info in regards to the training.

    Thanks for the links

Hi! Your 10k and bike times are similar to mine and swimming is also my weak point. Planning to do my first Triathlon next May. Go for it!

Cheers Tunny, that d3multisport.com looks useful. about to join a club myself in the coming month. wanted to wait until after the marathon so its close now. Probably go with Belpark eventhough they ain't exactly the closest club but with saving for a new tri bike i could do with a cheaper option right now and they seem to be quite well organised.

you went out on your own then didnt you with some friends? how would you rank them. the one thing that does suit me is there swimming location as i'm in Glasnevin and work at Croke Park so even if i work late i can still make that and i feel thats my weakest link

    Hi Bambaata,

Even though joining might not be practical because of your location, Pulse Triathlon are holding an open day on Sunday.

"If you can run, cyle or swim and want to try them together then drop into our Open Day 1-4pm at Westpark Fitness Centre, Greenhills Road, Tallaght on Sunday 19th October."

    Regards,

    Liam

    hey dan,

yeah belpark only the one swim a week, fridays at 7pm in Belvedere Street, off Gardnier or Temple Street I think - the street its on that is, not the time. Anyway you should come along there if you can make it. Its coached by *i wont name him* but he is an exceptional swimmer, hold some european age groups records for masters i think. Really good coach.
Anyway there are always loads of people there so its always good.
Drop me a pm if you have any qs. (yes, i am in belpark)

Hope the info was useful all the same.
