Hi, this may be a stupid question but I got a new Dell M1530 and the processor I chosed was the Intel Core Duo T8300, this is also confirmed by clicking on My Computer (Vista). However, there is a sticker on laptop which states "intel Centrino inside". I thought the Core Duo was based on the Pentium chipset?

    I'm confused:confused:

Not stupid at all, creates a good deal of confusion. Centrino is just a Intel brand name for a particular combination of CPU, Chipset and Wi-Fi card.

Nice machine the XPS M1530 - I have one myself! :D

Confusing, but as explained above thats the story.

Can be tricky to work out exactly whats inside without having a sneak at the bios/sys info

hey gypo or OP, just a quick question as i see you guys both have the dell xps 1530. i recently ordered one online and its on the way but i just have a quick question about the biometric finger print reader as my aunt is looking to possibly have one installed on her laptop, how do you set it up etc, does it then limit your computer to one user or can you record many finger prints!? can two finger prints access the one profile, ie. aunty and uncle have one profile to themselves for work etc which they can both access but the children cant, you know what i mean!

    thanks in advance!

I dont have a finger print reader but you could just set up a standard alpha numeric password.

ok just got word that she's ordered the biomet, and i've ordered my xps so the same questions basically apply from my part, will i be able to have 2 finger scans for one profile. anyone with the 1330 or 1530 help me out please?

    Oh yes.

Wouldnt be much use if you couldnt. In fact the software specifically suggest you scan in more than one finger per profile, just in case. You can also have multiple profiles. That said, the scanner doesnt like greasy fingers, or being a bit dirty. It can be fidgety. I normally use a standard password, and never bother with the finger reader.

After contacting DPD (the new name for Interlink, Dell's shipping company) i received an email which stated the following.

ur despatch office in limerick have informed me that your parcels are been shipped from Poland. Unfortunatley at this moment in time we a unable to provide a date that we will receive these parcel into ourselves and therfore I cannot give you day for delivery. you can contact our dispatch office in Limerick as they will receivethe parcels first and be able advise when parcel should be received by yourself.

anyone ever heard anythin like this before? what happened to the good ould days of shipping from limerick?!?! i've ordered an xps 1530 and a studio 17...

    thanks,
