Has anything changed in your house? any new gadgets or anything?

Have you tried changing the wireless channel in the netopia?

it it kept in a hot room ? If so could be time for a replacement. Also check antennae is screwed in and try changing channel on your laptop/pc also

its kept in the hall next to the phone ....

i have tried changing the channels but still no luck..

my wifi finds the network but cant connect.

Cordless phones sometimes cause this problem if you have one try swiching it off to see if it resolves although a channel change should have resolved it.

could also be your wireless receiver of your laptop. Try use a different laptop. If that doesnt work get onto eircom/whoever and they will send you out a new one.

Also, make sure you change the channels to 1 and 13. If you just change ti channels 6 or 8 it will have no real effect.

change your wep /wpa key so you know for sure what it is

By any chance did you upgrade to Windows XP SP2 or SP3 recently?

From what you say you can see the network (so router radio ok and laptop radio) but your are not getting an IP address. Try turning off security (and back on) also and see if it helps.

If you did do an upgrade then download this and install

You using windows Xp or Vista, if its Xp use windows to try configure the wireless connection if you are not doing so already.

Just a thought If you were using the wep key that was on it when it was installed then someone could easily have gotten into it and reprogrammed it.

True but then it would ask for the new WEP key....

    hey!

My wireless is not reaching anywhere else in the house but the room its in (I've made sure antennae are screwed in tight and havn't hid it in a lead safe or anything!).

I've seen things on boards about "changing the channel" in the Netopia router page. My router model number is 2247-02.

Can anyone walk a non techie through the process of changing a channel?
