    If you will be using it for processor light applications like you say, you don't need an expensive laptop. :)

    The cheapest DELL laptop will work fine. You can use the excess money to buy an external hard disk to backup your files, and a nice holiday for you an the missus :)

    €1000 can get you alot of laptop these days, if your uses are as stated, €500 - 600 should be able to get you a reasonably speced Inspiron 1525 more than capable of your needs, if you want to go with Dell.
