CAB to sell two Limerick gang cars

The Criminal Assets Bureau has been granted an order by the High Court to sell two high-powered cars belonging to a Limerick gang.

A Toyota Avensis and Land Cruiser belonging to Philip Collopy and Brian Scanlon, both connected to the Keane-Collopy gang will be sold by CAB receiver Frank Cassidy.

The cars are worth over €100,000 each.

Both men were represented in court and made no objections to the sale.

It's no wonder VRT is so high with the government pricing cars like that

Maybe they included the €95,000 worth of drugs in the boot?

Probably sold on through the trade to some mugs up the country too.

BTW a couple of months back I heard a certain well known family in the city had at least one armor plated 07/08 BMW X5 taken from them too afaik.

Who's going to buy these armour plated cars only other people in the same business.
It'd be an interesting auction to go to!!

I had to laugh out loud at the morons on 2FM news this afternoon who described these cars as "high performance" and quoting the "value"...
    Sensationalist bullsh*t...

As for who would buy them? Well I reckon after tuesday some government ministers would be well advised to travel in armour plated vehicles, especially if any of their elderly constituents have a firearms license...

Ah well - Collopy managed to shoot himself over the weekend. Apparently he unloaded a half empty magazine, (17 round mag - 8 rounds were retrieved at the scene, not including the one which passed through his wretched cranium!) and proceeded to remove the rounds from the mag. Then, without checking the chamber for a loaded round, he pointed the muzzle of the Glock 9mm to his head and pulled the trigger. Sic semper sceleratus. Good riddance to bad rubbish, says this observer...
