Info/Tip on Sony HRD - AVCHD import

    Hi,

    I was having a bit of trouble importing my Hi-Def footage from my Sony HDR-SR7E to my new MPB.

    It turns out that as I had a mix of SD & HD footage on my camera, imovie will not recognise the HD files, therefore you have to delete all SD footage from your camera first and you can then transfer the files into imovie (and I am guessing you can then move them to FCE/FCP for editing.....but I haven't got to that bit yet).

    According to the Apple support site this will work for all Sony HDR series camcorders.

    For all you experienced Mac users out there......sorry to bore you but I just thought I would share that little nugget if anyone else was (or will) have the same problem :)

    Edit: Sorry the thread header should be HDR not HRD

    yeah, its a charecteristic with the sonys, that theres a problem with imovie if you have sd and hd footage on the card.. one solution copy the sd footage from the card onto the computer directly and then delete it off the card and then imovie will automatically import the hd stuff for you... i have a tg1 and record everything in hd now.. works fine for imovie 08 and imovie hd... prefer using the old imovie myself
