Problems connecting laptop to HDTV

    Hello


    I would appreciate any help with this problem:

    I am trying to connect my laptop (sony vaio c-series running vista)
    to a samsung HDTV using a VGA cable.

    When I connect the devices my laptop recognises the tv and a box comes up asking me to choose whether I want to choose the tv as the only monitor or show the display on both monitor and tv.

    I choose the latter option.

    I then setup the correct resolution and dislay settings in my laptop control panel

    All I should have to do then is choose pc in the source menu on my tv remote to view the laptop display, however the pc option is greyed out.


    This suggests to me that the tv is not recognising that the device is linked to it.

    Can anybody give me advice on this please????
