    Wondering has anyone played it?

Thinking about taking a trip up there to see the place before I think of joining, seems very reasonable in this day and age.

    Cheers lads.

I've played it a few times now, but after the last time i said never again. It is reasonably priced and in generally good nick, but i find the course a real slog. Quite an awkward course in places. There's a stretch on the back nine which on every time i've played it has sapped all the fun out of it for me. Quite a few up/down holes on the hill which are pretty long.

There's a few nice holes on it though and the novelty of it being in the racecourse too. Go up and have a go of it though and make your own mind up... think it's only around 25 euro at weekends. Always recieved a nice welcome and the facilties are generally pretty good.

I've been a member there for 4 years and heres an honest opinion on the course....

It plays long with plenty of 400yds+ par 4's that are usually into the wind.

It is a fairly straight course with only one dog-leg.

The greens are excellent, plenty of double and tripple tiers with loads of breaks. Without doubt they are the best feature of the course.

    The course is well maintained.

The main complaints people have when they play it are that its too long suiting the big hitters and its too open with holes that are just up and down. It is a cheap course to join however costing only 3k for full membership.
A new proshop and locker rooms ,showers ect were recently built.

Remember that the course is only 10 years old and improving all the time.
    Hope that helps.:)

Sorry for the delay guys , herself has had me painting the babys bedroom....lol
    To answer your questions....
Racing events happen about 12 or 14 times a year, usually on saturday or sunday and golf is off those days. I dont find it a big hastle tbh. As a perk you get free raceday entry if your into the horses and they have a family day once a year which is great for the kids. Two other courses do a special for us on race days, Headfort (2 super courses) and Knights brook where we get half price green fees when racing is on.

Club comps happen on Sunday and the time sheet fills up fairly quickly.....having said that I've always been able to get a time without any problem.
Saturday can be busy with outings and societies but we book a time early(8am or thereabouts) and always get out.
If any of you guys fancy a game I'm there most saturday mornings and dont mind taking you out as a guest. As far as i'm aware they wont even charge you if you are thinking of joining.:)

i would concur that its not a bad track a wee bit up and down lacking a bit of character but its new enough and the greens are excellent between now and dec 09 there are 24 race meeting 19 of which are on the weekend saturdays can be busy with societys because the charge a great rate for societies

nice course but you feel kind of trapped.

typical race course track but better than sister course Leopardstown.

Not as nice as Gowran however.

OK - worth 25 euro I suppose. Driving range is good though.
