Budget changes on medical expenses

From next year all medical expenses will be available to claim at only 20% including dental work. Does anyone know is it possible to get around this by paying upfront this year even if work wasn't complete. Had planned on getting braces, so the budget change is having a major financial impact.

Just back from the ortho and asked them about this - as long as you have payed before the end of the year, you can claim at the upper tax band if you qualify, regardless of what stage of treatment you are at. So I'll be handing over the remaining 3k a lot sooner than expected.... the teeth aren't the only things hurting right now!
