    Hi,
    Firstly sorry if i'm posting in the wrong forum , just need some input on my situation. I'm an electronics engineer by profession and went to work for an electronics manufacturing company straight out of college in 2000. I left in 2002 to setup my own business which ultimatly ground to a halt in 2006 and I had to go job hunting. After several hundred applications (not joking) for ANY type of job ,I eventually secured a position of maintenance fitter in a local factory in feb 2007. The work and pay etc were not ideal but i'd rather be working and earning a dollar than sitting at home worrying about the bills.

    Anyway 3 weeks ago i got a phone call out of the blue from the electronics company that i had worked for up to 2002 to say that their senior electronics guy had handed in his notice and would i like the job. Hours/ pay/benefits etc were far better than what i was currently earning so after a days thought i said yes. I gave two weeks notice in my job and was all set to start in the new place on monday.

    Last thursday afternoon (i was leaving on friday) I get another phone call from the electronics company to say sorry but we're downsizing and there is now no job here for yourself. I asked for this in writing which i did receive.I went immediatly to my boss and explained the situation but unfortunatly they had given my job to another guy in the factory and were not willing to reverse the decision at such a late stage which I could understand and I was let go on friday.

    Sorry for the long story am just wondering if anyone could offer some advice on my next move ie were do i stand legally with eiter company , claiming dole etc?
