Both great photos. Hard choice to make.

Just uploading some of my own images from last night to FlickR now.

Best of luck to the winner here. :D

I think Full Flow is a better picture but that was a very difficult choice to make. Well done to both of you, nice shots!

What he said. Very tough choice. Just the subject matter in the difference, Full Flow just brings you into the action that bit more. (IMO)

Got home late this morning and in work at 8 so didn't work on any photos yet. Both good shots and I heard of your competition from Paul at half time. Glad I'm not part of it :D

Ok. Its a classical dilemna between the head and the heart ( cue the cheesy Chris DeBurgh music). I've gone for what i would consider more technically perfect as opposed to that which I consider may be the more pleasing. So you are both winners ( yeah, yeah, yeah... i hear you say ;) ) Bloody hard decision though - define best?????? pheeeww.

But look - in the first, could you not have gotten him to stay still center in the frame with ball on the ground at his feet and say cheese. Maybe even get him to put his foot on the ball. And with number two, you could have gotten the two boys to put their arms around each other maybe give the visitor the ball under his right arm and have them smile. :pac: :pac: :pac: :pac: :pac:

(eh.... detect large dose of sarcasm in the latter part of the above post!)

    Excellent stuff guys.

    I'd go for Full Flow.

Great shot of Duff in mid-air, eye on the ball, just about to unleash a shot. He's the main focus, and that's it.

"Kick in the...?", doesn't quite do it for me. Technically great (sharp, DOF great, etc), but I think it's just looks like the split second after something has happened. Looks like Whelan's got the ball under control, and the Cypriot is about to fall to the deck in agony despite there being no contact in the photo at all!

Still, both shots making me want to get a decent lens that can shoot at f2.8 and an upgrade from my 350D...

I went for the 2nd one as there is more to see, ie. more interesting.

i voted for the first one
because the second one tho it looks like it could turn into a funny moment at any time

Full flow is very very cool, but being a girl I'm loving kick in the...... very very good!

I went with 2. At smaller versions, would probably go with 1, but the top half of it just looks a little off at the size shown. The grass thrown up in 2 is great.

Now despite Dodgykeeper living up to his name of being a somewhat dodgy character it looks like class has prevailed..

You can all view his desperate last minute attempts to claw back some dignity here

It seems it may have been edited, basically Mr Keeper was asking for what we'll call pity votes :)

For shame Fergus, for shame... The Guinness is going to be all the sweeter for winning..
Everyone from boards is invited to engage in some group mocking of said dodgykeeper as I sink my victory pints...

You sir, are the boards John McCain...

A pedant, or pædant, is a person who is overly concerned with formalism and precision, or who 'makes a show of learning'. The corresponding (obsolete) female noun is pedantess

I also have your theme tune lined up for our pints night... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJN3PGqDRNg
