I'd like to have access to the printer (HP Laserjet 1020) connected to my desktop, from my laptop and possibly a PDA.

I'm guessing that I can't simply plug a usb bluetooth adapter into the printer and access it from the other computers (fitted with bluetooth dongles)

    Would this work?http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-Bluetooth-USB-Printer-Adapter/dp/B0001Q17NW

I do have all the pc's "linked" wirelessly to my ADSL modem/router, is there another option that perhaps I'm missing?

    Any advice much appreciated.

Does it have to be BlueTooth or will WiFi suffice?

Set up the printer as a shared one on the connected PC but then the PC would have to be on to print remotely. Other option is a wifi / Ethernet print server. Be aware that Amazon doesn't ship electrical goods to Ireland (they're afraid of WEEE)

Doesn't have to be bluetooth, I just thought it would be simpler to use than the wifi option.

As you say, the pc connected to the printer would need to be on, in order to access it and print remotely.

What do you think of the print server in the link (although I'm not buying it on Amazon)
Reviews seem to suggest that it will work with any USB printer.

    Thanks for the input.

It should work with any printer but a WiFi print server would be better as it has a longer range, wouldn't believe the 100m they say for bluetooth. Most printers have no trouble connecting and using a print server, get one that has Ethernet as it shoudl be cheaper and let the router provide the wireless bit, unless of course the modem/router is remote from where the printer will be?

"unless of course the modem/router is remote from where the printer will be?"

That's part of the problem, the router is in the hall, desktop is in the livingroom and laptop is generally in the kitchen. Oh, and an EEE PC, that can be anywhere.

Might take a punt on the Belkin thingy, but I'd say you're right, the 100m distance, will most likely be about 20 - 30 feet.

Thanks again for the input ;)
