self employed or contractor

i have spent some time investigating the pros and cons of being self employed versus being a contractor.

there seems to be plenty of advice on the net about your rights if you are a short term contractor - but not much if you were self employed.
can someone point me toward some helpful websites?

say for instance you set up your own limited company called myInc.
you got a "contract" with say globalInc.
what websites would be helpful to point out the rights you would have if you were working there for 5 years.

if you are a contractor ( in the true sense ) then you have some rights after 3 years ( as per other thread i was reading ).
but since globalInc would not be paying any PRSI on your behalf you ( as an employee of myInc ) - you dont have the same entitlements.

does this make any sense? sorry if i am rambling.
