Still a long way off, yet I leave too many things to the last minute as it is. Basically I'm fairly set on studying in trinners next year - What (as students of Trinity) would you reccomend to do to make the best of the open day? Any particular things to do/see/etc?

If it helps - Planning to do Science (Common entry)

    Cheers

Well, if you're planning on doing science, head up the Hamilton (science) building during the day and there'll be loads of stands representing the various possible course choices within science (genetics, botany, astrophysics, chemistry etc.) where you can talk to lecturers and students in these courses to get more information. Also, there are usually a number of talks run during the day, again on various scientific disciplines, which should serve to give you a taste about what a particular subject is about and what the course entails.

Ex-student but at the open day make sure to talk to current students of the course, and if possible the students who are in the later years of the course (since they'll have a more rounded view of the course). Ask this question when you're talking to the person on the stand first. If they are someone who isn't in the course I'd move on to another person.

Maybe ask if there's someone you could contact (or the person at the desk) if you've any questions after the open day.

Ask about career options and examples of what the students studying that subject are doing now.

I'd say go early in the day if you can since the place gets horribly crowded. Plus it'll be quieter and you'll have more of a chance of talking to someone at the desk before it goes crazy.

Oh, and keep in mind that if you've questions about Science or any other course you can ask on this forum :)

Yeah last year I was there around midday and I really couldn't even get a word in to anyone there were just so many people there shouting out questions and stuff.

Try and get in as early as you can, and head straight to the Hamilton (building on your left if you go through the entrance near Pearse station).

When is the Trinity open day?

I think usually the wednesday after lectures end for 'normal students' in December. So around the 11th or so.
